pastrami has a very strong flavor so your cholent will likely taste like it,
idk about putting in regular meat too. I cant see that it would be bad.

My mother puts it in on top sometimes, in addition to reg meat, and can be placed later, I believe, as its fully cooked. yum:)

Pastrami gives a very strong flavor to chalont, it's not good. I get the vacuum packed navel pastrami & put it ontop of the chalont in the bag. It's delicious.

Same. If you put it directly in the cholent your whole cholent will taste like pastrami.

Thanks for the replies
I just got home from work and tasted my cholent it’s horrible the whole thing taste like pastrami 🙁
My original question I meant to ask if I should add regular meat
Now my question is how can I save my cholent!?!?
I’m assuming it’s too late to Remove the pastrami and put it in a Silver foil

DH's grandfather was famous for his pastrami Chulent. He used meat and pastrami.

The pastrami should be left in the vacuum packed bag.. but I guess I’m too late to tell you that.
I either add more meat to the Chulent or if it’s a big enough piece of pastrami I just add beef bones for flavour.

I don't think you can do anything to the chalont now, but try adding a whole package of meat and 1-2 potatoes. Maybe it'll change the flavor a bit.

Yes, the vacuum pack that the navel pastrami is in is like an oven bag, meant to be cooked it.
Not the regular deli package, it's a different type of packaging special made for cooking.
