I'm torn. My boy just turned 4 and he's a wild climber/jumper.

We just go to shul, not every week, to pick up his father. Otherwise we're in the house/backyard all day long. He loves digging in the dirt and jumping in puddles.

Do I buy him Shabbos shoes or just let him wear his sneakers?

I know the very first time I buy him shabbos shoes, they will get scuffed up. He'll jump into a pile of dust or dirt or leaves and that will be it.

What have you done?

I do buy shabbos shoes, but if there is a time that he’s specifically going to the park, playing in the yard, etc. I’ll have him wear his weekday shoes.

I don't.

His weekday shoes are dark colored. Maybe if they were neon green with flashing lights I'd answer differently.

My kids wear crocs during the day and only change to shoes when we go out to fiends or family or shul. I don't buy the most expensive shabbos shoes though.

I buy shabbos sneakers. We walk alot on Shabbat and I want them to have a safe and comfortable walk. So something a little fancier looking and special for Shabbat. But sneakers.

When they are on sale, which is quite often, they can be as low as $10, depending on the size.
I've been quite happy with the Children's Place shoes so far. It's not such a big investment.

I started for most of my kids once they go to school. (Primary)

When 1 daughter was 3 she really wanted so I’ve been getting her ever since - but I think it’s because she is from the youngest of older siblings. She wears them and cares so I think then it was important.

Yes for $18. Just to be worn the weeks we go to shul and when he gets home they come off.

At that age I bought really cheap ones usually from Payless but that doesn't exist anymore.
Check any website. They all have dressy loafers for little kids. Childrens place, old navy, Amazon etc...
