I'm looking for a book that explains about naming after people...the significance of it, the zechusim, choosing a certain name, combination names, the whole mekor where its brought down to name after....
anyone know of such a book?

There is a book called "What's in a name" but I can't remember the Author. At the end he covers the names from the Torah, but it's basically what you are asking about.
Here is an Aish article by R'Krohn http://www.aish.com/literacy/l.....$.asp

The book that Mamacita is referring to, What's in a name?, is written by Rabbi Y.Z. Wilhelm. Its subtitle is "Laws and Customs Regarding the Naming of Children and Related Topics. It contains many different halachot concerning the naming of children (I.e. Who has the right to name a child, Mistakes made while giving the name, Naming after a former spouse, Giving two children the same name, Naming an adopted child, et. al).
I found it a very interesting read.

There's also an Artscroll Book (I believe by Rabbi Paysach Krohn about the bris milah) that has a great chapter on naming (same halachos/minhagim for girls as boys....)
