My child has a lot of symptoms of adhd, focusing issues and behavioral issues.
I called my pediatrician for a referral and he gave me a name and number, I looked it up and it is a neurologist.
Another professional gave me the name of a couple of psychiatrists.
So confused. Who to go to? This is for assessment and treatment.

Both approach the issue in different ways, but neither is wrong for this.

Either is fine for medication but I wouldn't trust either for assessment. You'll find more neurologist s take insurance. For assessment a neuropsychologist is best or maybe a developmental pediatrician.

I would take to a psychiatrist over a neurologist because they are more trained for psychological disorders.
Personally, I would take to a psychologist for a full evaluation.
A psychiatrist might be good if you feel your child would benefit from medication.

Depends on the practitioner. A pediatric neurologist who has a practice that focusses on ADHD might be a good choice. As pointed out before, a neurologist is much more likely to accept insurance. Whoever you chose to see, once you hopefully get things under control (and find a medication that works), you might want to ask your primary care physician, or neurologist to give you refills. You can always go back to, or seek out another psychiatrist if there are issues)concerns. Best of luck. It does get better, and kudos to you for being proactive getting your child help that can be life changing.
