I have an option of keeping my phone number but it will be a different area code then the city we’re moving to. I prefer to keep the number to make it easier on people/doctors offices to have it, but I guess the downside we’ll always be the one you have remember doesn’t have the same area code?
Thoughts please

I did that. I don’t regret it. Many people have different, interesting area codes these days.

You should definitely do it because for many people who already are familiar with your number, it’ll be easier to remember it even if they have to remember the area code changed. I did that with my summer house upstate, same phone number, different area code.

Absolutely keep your phone number. I can't imagine starting with a new number nowadays. It's very common to have a different area code from the local one, you for sure won't be the only one.

Area codes means zilch anyway. People don't know phone numbers anyway.

Area codes mean nothing. Keep your number!

Thanks everyone!
I thought I’m being crazy for wanting to hold on to this number!

I've occasionally wanted to clean slate and start over with a new number and everything. But man, what a hassle.

I kept my number. The irritating part is that I moved from monsey, with an 845 area code. Most people here aren’t familiar with it and often think it’s some weird 800 number
