I have two questions regarding cell phones maybe some of you israeli users can help me out:

1. can the kosher phones in Israel be for any service or are they tied to one service company? like orange etc?

2. can any of the cell phone services block calls from a specific number? like if I am getting harrassed by "X" can I tell them not to let calls from that number thru to my phone?

Thanks for your help...it is really important that I know!!!

If I am not mistaken and I understood the newspaper article (chiloni) that dealt with the "kosher" options:

(1) You get cheaper rates to other phones (of the same company, I think).
(2) You get "killed" on rates if you use it on Shabbat/Chag
(3) No SMS-ing
(4) No internet connection.
(5) Available from a few, if not all, companies

I don't know if you block can phone numbers, but with caller ID or if it's a "blocked number", then just don't answer. My husband doesn't think there is such an option.

I have phone thru "Pelephone" company called "Meushar". I don't mind it, no games, no camera, no SMS.

Since privacy isn't really private here, I don't think that is available, even on a home phone.

I like NOT having the SMS cuz then I don't get "SPAM" SMS from advertisers - even in arabic! Also no camera means no sharing pictures, which means kids don't play with your phones (there are no games, & wallpapers) and you don't "waste time" on the phone with pictures and SMS all day. The only thing to keep it away from little baby & toddler hands cuz they just like to push buttons and watch it light up! Very Happy
