Not sure what you are labeling exactly Smile but why not with nail polish or permanent marker?

I label bottles that go to the sitter/playgroup. I use a permanent marker.

My daycare has the most amazing colored tape (each kid is a different color) that she uses and writes in permanent marker

You can put a piece of clear tape over the writing and it lasts even longer.

so far these are working! sharpie also makes a permanent marker that is supposed to be able to withstand water.

This is what I was going to recommend. Had one on my son's sweatshirt last year and even after tons of washes it was still there. Had one on his water bottle also - that one got faded after a while but it did last a pretty decent amount of time. And then you can just put a new one on if you need to. Awesome product and great price.
