Who made a big deal? I asked a question. That is not a big deal.

hence why one per fam is a good compromise, or cheap ones for the unmarried boys (kosher starts at 25). Why 100 ? Because it's cool ? heck, the seller asked my husband jokingly to pretend to buy a 100 one so people may.
Oh, and this was bourgeoisie. Definitely not poor for the times!

Yes. You can spend 25 per child and get kosher ones. Some people don’t spend money on many luxuries and find it important to save some money and buy nicer Arba Minim because it is a Mitzvah and that is what is important to them. And to also train their children in Hiddur Mitzvah. Most people spend more money than that on things that are not Mitzvos. If you don’t feel it, then don’t spend. To each his own.

Definitely would rather give 75 to tzedaka and buy 25 (though a nice average can exist, something in between 25 and 100)

Tzedaka and Mitzvos are not mutually exclusive.

I don't know what my husband spends. It's his mitzvah so he can spend what he feels is important to him. BH I hope he is happy with what he gets this year and he enjoys it and that it is a siman for a good things to come.
