I think it’s preferable to buy new rather than do laundry. Laundry is one of the melachos mentioned not to do on chol hamoed
It’s much easier for me to wash a few pairs of tights than drive to the other side of the neighborhood. My daughter is over bas mitzvah so I don’t think Im allowed to wash for her.
