I am looking for a really good vegetable knife that is not too expensive but high quality and sharp. If it can be ordered online it is a plus but not necessary. Also if available in tri state area that's ok.
Also looking for a decent and nice looking knife to cut our challah on Shabbos. Not too expensive. I guess it should be serrated. Want it to look like something a little special for the shabbos table if possible.
Thank you greatly

"Best" really depends on your budget, how long you want the knife to last, if you want to be able to take it to a sharpener later, or if you just want to toss it when it gets too dull.

My dream is to be able to afford a set of world class professional chef's knives, instead of hacking things to death with a cheap knife that acts more like a rusty saw blade.
You are actually more likely to hurt yourself with a dull knife, than you are with a sharp one. A dull knife can slip out of your hand, but a sharp knife will always go exactly where you want it, and with a minimum of pressure.

Henkels knives are really good. They are a little costly but for what they do they are inexpensive investment

I bought the victorianox locally extremely sharp, not expensive, and bought it locally, I doubt that you can buy it on line, it will probably will get dull, but still can cut vegetables in a few years but its less than $10

This one would be for vegetables?
I thought you are not supposed to use serrated on vegetables?

Yes, for veggies. They have non serrated as well, but these work so much better on salad vegetables (and steak)!
We have them in 3 colors for dairy, meat, parve.
Use larger non serrated knife for root vegetables like potatoes, carrots, etc (and slicing meat).

Bumping. My husband loves good quality knives and his birthday is coming up. Willing to spend 2-300 hundred $ any recommendations?
