Hi any suggestions where to stay for two nights? We prefer quiet & private if at all possible. Thanks!

Ive always stayed in budget hotels like the Howard Johnson. However my friend stayed in the Viking Arms hotel which is down the block from the shul. The hotel has good reviews. Enjoy!!! I love Newport! Hope the weather is decent for you.

It depends on your budget. If you want maximum quiet and privacy, an AirBNB would be your best bet. These days, between COVID and suboptimal weather, most hotels won't be too crowded. We had a lovely stay at the Residence Inn last year.

Look into the Wyndham properties (extraholidays.com) There is one directly on the water and many have full kitchens

Thanks for your help! Is this time of year interesting to go or is it too cold?

I’d only go in summer but it depends on you.

Newport is stunning and fascinating. However some of the houses are closed due to COVID and if you will need minyanim you should call ahead as many shuls are not open to tourists right now. Also its on the ocean and tends to get chilly this time of year so pack accordingly. Enjoy!

In the summer the weather is definitely nicer, but it's also more crowded. Check the forecast and aim for a sunny week with weather you can handle, but know that on the Cliff Walk it will feel much colder as the winds blow from the ocean. If it looks too cold for now, then wait until spring. Also check to see what's currently open due to COVID in terms of the mansions and Touro Synagogue.
