It's an old lady name.

Old lady like it’s an embarrassing name? Or old lady like it’s still sort of acceptable? Like in America there are old lady names that are becoming more trendy like Eleanor and Alice and names like that. Whereas a name like Gertrude in America is still old lady, and it would be odd if a baby now were named Gertrude.

I'm not quite sure why you posted this. Are you saying the name has become completely associated with a cartoon duck?

Aliza is more like Mildred than Eleanor. I don't think it's come back into use. It's a grandmother name. I know one little girl named Aliza, but that's it.

I think it's a perfectly lovely name, but very much not in fashion.

IMO outdated but acceptable. No more "old-ladyish" than Chana or Leah. If you like it, go for it.

I know two younger Aliza's but they are Russians who have a very similar sounding Russian name (I think Alisa).

I wouldn't say it's quite like Mildred but it's considered "shem shel savta " aka an old lady name. I dont think a child will be made fun of but it's not a popular name

That’s amusing! Two of my DD's have an Aliza in their class, ages 4 and 11. (We’re chareidi)

Agree.
And Aliza is not a name 'from the sources' so it doesn't have that cache either.
Furthermore, there are so, so many more modern takes on the theme of happiness and gaiety that people prefer nowadays.
Still, it's such a well known, ubiquitous name (among older generations though) that I don't think a child will be made fun of.

Someone needs to do a sociological study of names. In my very limited experience, I'll see a name become popular in secular Israel, and about 15 years later, it makes its way into the dati leumi world. Ten years after that, Modern Orthodox Jews in chutz la'aretz are using it, followed a few years later by the American yeshivish crowd, and then finally the name makes it into Israeli charedi circles. Ronit, Aviva, Ahuva, Leora, and Noa all seem (again, just to me) to follow this trajectory.

Just asked my 9 year old. She doesn't know anyone named it in school. Only an older woman.

More modern happiness names:
Gili
Roni (crazy popular, with stress on either the first or second syllable, depending of you want it to me "my joy" or "go and be happy")

They are two separate names.
Tahel is a 'light' name.
Tagel is a 'joy' name, from the same root as Gila.
