DD12 is looking for some new books. She is very particular though!
She likes Tzipi Caton (Invisible Me, Miracle Ride) and all of Chani Altein's young adult books. She wants all of the books she reads to have a lesson so she doesn't feel like reading them was a waste of time, doesn't want anything too heavy, but only likes nonfiction or realistic fiction. She is very firm that they not be scary or have a sad ending. She likes chapter books rather than short story collections.
(She is currently reading Samarkand, Subbota, and All for the Boss, but those she finds she can only read in short spurts. She is looking for a book she can pick up and read beginning to end.)
Any ideas?

Specifically Jewish? The Andrew Clements books are phenomenal and clean.

Has she read the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder? The first two may be too easy but the rest should be perfect.

Freefall
Shortchanged
Leah Gebber (Map the Starlight especially)
The new bio on Rabbi Grossman of Migdal HaEmek (ArtScroll)
Miriam Hendeles has a book about a year with a broken foot. Light but lesson-full. (Haven't read that yet.)
Name the Stars (Wieser)
Framed (Kohaine)
Wildlands. Assure her it has a satisfying ending. Might be too much though. (Some others too.)
Has she read all the oldies like:
Conquer the Darkness
Serena
Far from the Place We Call Home
Into the Fire
The Stars Will Guide You
Incredible
To Remain A Jew (bio of Rav Yitzchak Zilber, zt"l)
From Djerba to Jerusalem
Lady Amelie (Gebber)
There are so many more but I have to go now.

Yes! That's one of those middle school rite of passage books. Or it used to be.

A daughter of two mothers.
Very high interest. My daughters couldn't put it down. Neither could I!
