To a wedding? Sure, why not?
And around here, that would look ridiculous at a funeral.

Yes and no one I know would wear it to a funeral. Is she one of those that hates black? Who wears a fancy dress to a funeral?

Maybe she thinks that black belongs at funerals, not weddings? But that dress doesn't look suitable for a funeral. You don't need to dress up for a funeral, but something more formal that that dress would be appropriate.
You can wear it for weddings. Maybe with a necklace or something to brighten it up.

It is very black that’s probably why she said that. Can you add a colorful belt?

Please no, black is elegant only when done alone. Sometimes paired with white but that's it.

This would look nice to, however you don't want to pair a rhinestone belt when a dress has black jewels on it. To busy

I think it's pretty!
Be warned though... I've ordered from eshakti and the quality is not always great- it may look cheap and gross in person

It’s probably a way of saying don’t wear black to a wedding.

Can’t speak to the quality or how it will fit you, but I think it looks gorgeous and is very wedding appropriate.
Maybe if you were a very fancy socialite in Connecticut you could wear it to husbands funeral-especially if you were looking for hubby #2, but it is definitely not a funeral dress.

It’s the type of dress a typical wasp lady might’ve worn to a funeral in the 1940’s but also the type a nice Frum lady would wear to a wedding in the 2020’s.

Frum people wear black to weddings. Other demographics wear it to funerals. Depends whose getting married.

I know someone who dressed like that for her grandma funeral. She also wore a pillbox hat with the netting that hangs down over the eyes, and a swing coat. She looked silly. Like a war widow from a 1940s movie.

I'm more on the D/L side myself, and I'm not allergic to color, unlike a lot of other groups.
I recently went to a very RW Yeshivish wedding, and I was one of the few people who WASN'T wearing black! I was wearing dark green, but by comparison I really stuck out.
