You have to trust that they're using quality oil and that they're really emptying all the old oil.

I once had a bad oil change. They claimed the cap to my oil reservoir was stuck, which, ok, maybe it was. The car wasn’t old but who knows. They said they had to use a hammer to get the cap off, but that they did it all the time and it was no big deal. Within a few hours, I noticed I was leaking coolant. I can’t prove it’s related, but I’m totally convinced they accidentally hit the coolant line with the hammer when trying to get the cap out. This can’t be common, but still now I go only to the dealer or a reputable shop rather than an oil change only type place.
