We must move out of our current apartment. There is a nice option available but it's only available for a year (maybe 2). Is this a very unsettling thing to do?

I would, because I'm an eternal optimist who is positive that the perfect home for purchase will be available in JUST a few months. (We're living here for over 5 years lol.)

It's a question of if you'll end up losing money in moving costs.
We moved into a small 2 BR even though we could only stay max 2 years (we're leaving soon), because the different in rent was enough to cover the moving costs when we left. If the price is comparable to anything else you can find that you could stay longer, then it may not be worth it.

Only if you have a valid reason to.
Otherwise a year passes in an eye link.
