Freilich,

Did you actually say, "When I have time???"

You have like over 3000 or so posts. You don't have time?

no Indy, but I will check that book up now to check out your ancestry.
It's the Bamberger Book...I guess I gave it away then. Oh well.

Hey Everyone,

I have been informed from my Rabbi, that a new website has opened up with a purpose of linking every single Jew to each other and to their ancestors.
If only 2-3 percent of Jews sign up and plot some of their family tree, then the database will have enough information be able to automatically link us all and fill in the rest of the data.

They need to reach 300,000 Jews in their database to accomplish this.

So why should you sign up and do this? There are multiple reasons why you should do this and here are just a few.

1. Having a family tree is important for all questions regarding verification of your Jewishness and tribal lineage.
2. A family tree is something that you and your children and their children will enjoy.
3. Prevent accidental interbreeding that sometimes occurs.
4. Will be able to know without a shadow of a doubt who is from the Priestly, Levite or Israel class.
5. Prevent halachically improper marriages from occurring in the future.
6. In y'mot Hamashiach (days of mashiach) we will be able to know who is Jewish and bring them all back to Eretz Israel (without Divine Intervention).
7. Digitalizes your family tree so it is won't get lost.
8. It's completely free.
9. It will help you reconnect with your past and knowing where you exist within the Jewish chain.
10 It will bring about a feeling of achdus (unity) of the Jewish people by showing how every Jew is connected to every Jew.

A few of you probably already have family trees or information about a few of your relatives and ancestors, but even if you don't, you can start now.

Sign up at www.jworld.famillion.com

P.S. If you feel as strongly as I do about this idea, please forward this to a few of your friends.

Thank you.

I LOVE genealogy, although I would never have the courage to type EVERYTHING in this website...

also, a few things:

you can fake your family tree, unfortunately

for us Jews it's ok, except things that would never happen like brother/sister. Marrying a half sibling or one that was adopted out could happen, but then it means there was a mystery/lie, and it wouldn't be on the tree anyway... no, it doesn't help much about it.
