Lots of well-meaning Imas love to (anonymously) jump on the soapbox to give what they believe is the most important Public Service Announcement of all time.
Well here’s my PSA:
PSAs don’t help. They usually hurt people. It’s just a sneaky way for you to give self-righteous mussar to uninterested parties.
Seriously.
Ok, I’m off my soapbox before I become a hypocrite.
Bye.

I voted never. But that's bc I usually agree with the PSA in the first place

I don't mind them. Sometimes I agree, sometimes they make me think, sometimes they make me want to yell in frustration and I close the thread.

There's a difference between a real PSA and some PSA threads here. "PSA: It is important to look both ways when crossing the street" is a real PSA. "PSA: I don't think you should be crossing the street in those ugly shoes" is not.

True but how many real PSAs do we get here?
Most sounds like this- "PSA: I don't think you should be crossing the street in those ugly shoes" instead of that- "PSA: It is important to look both ways when crossing the street".
PSA- your not Tnius if you wear this
PSA- wearing crocs is so last year
PSA- if you talk to my dh at work I’ll come after you
PSA- don’t come to my city wearing a red coat
Things like that aren’t changing anyone.

Occasionally we have threads like "PSA: Macy's has a really good sale going on right now" or "PSA: the woods have poison ivy." But it's true that most PSA threads aren't real PSAs.

SuperWify I'm not entirely sure that the poll results prove your point

I remember one PSA that I took to heart 100%. It was about kids and secondary drowning. I knew to take it seriously when my then-16month-old daughter fell into a swimming pool.

That’s cool, but that’s a SAFETY PSA. What PSA are meant for. The PSAs around here lately are none of that sort. They are being literally abused.

No, you didn’t. You are correct, safety PSAs are important. I’m complaining about the PSAs that’s are not really PSAs, rather the persons own opinions.
