I am looking to buy a large pot - 12 qt or maybe even 16 qt. I need it to be wide and low as opposed to tall. I want something that cooks well and washes easily.
Any recommendations?

If you want a stock pot, but shallower, try searching for a roasting pan. Make sure that it's OK for the stovetop as well as the oven. They have sides that are 5 or 6 inches high, and they come with lids.
I like that it gives you a larger area to sauté your veggies before you add the stock. Trying to sauté in a deep stock pot can make things mushy, and using a frying pan adds one more thing to wash.
