Any tips how to clean the white rubber soles on child's shoe. I want it to be worn to school, but clean.

Water and bleach and scrub with a toothbrush.
If you don't like bleach, do the same with vinegar and baking soda.

I don't understand the Magic Eraser suggestion. I tried it a few different times (different shoes, thinking that maybe it was the type of rubber or texture that didn't work the last time) and each time the eraser just crumbled into bits while only slightly helping the shoe. Am I doing it wrong?

Soft scrub or shout on a wet rag. If u want it clean then the trick is to do it every night.
