I don't have any other juice aside from lemon juice. Can I use that? Is it 1:1? Should I just use water? Recipe calls for 1/4 cup.
Thank you!

Do you have canned pineapple? I use pineapple juice.

Sometimes you need the acid to activate the baking powder/soda. I always forget which one. If I don't have orange juice I usually sub apple juice mixed with a tablespoon or so of lemon juice.

Depends on the recipe but I have used a mixture of grape juice and lemon juice as a substitute for orange juice.

If it's for a cake you can probably substitute water, apple juice, or soy/almond/oat milk.
For meat/chicken you might need the acid...maybe do half lemon juice half water?

Oh, haha, just noticed this is in the baking forum.
For sure substitute any other sweet or neutral liquid! I just wouldn't recommend grape juice unless you don't mind your baked good looking purplish.
For the record, I prefer water or almond milk to OJ in baked goods since the OJ adds a tangy flavor I don't love.

Water is perfect usually makes the cake lighter. Apple juice can leave a taste

If it's cake any parve milk will do, and if you don't have, even water is fine.

Using pareve milk will change the taste of the cake. I once used almond milk instead of orange juice and none of my kids would eat it. But that was for a cake that had a lot of juice. For a 1/4 cup it shouldn't make too much of a difference. I've substituted 1/4 cup apple juice for orange juice and my kids didn't notice.
