Hi, we would like to visit Pittsburg over chol hamoed, but it looks like there are no hotels near the frum area. Is that true? If so, does the frum community have any hachnosas orchim apartments (we would pay) or anything similar? We would love to stay for Shabbos as well, if we can.

Also, what is there to do now, with COVID and all? We will be traveling with kids ages 2-14 and would love an update on what there is to do there now.

Thanks! Smile

The science museum there was lots of fun for kids those ages when we visited many years ago. We also enjoyed the Monongahela Incline, which was unique. We stayed at the Hampton Inn Pittsburgh U/Medical Center, which wasn't in the community, but it was only a couple miles away.

We were there during the week and the drive to shul/restaurants was under 10 minutes. Google maps says the walk is 45, which is doable if it's worth it to you to be there, and there are likely other hotels a little bit closer to make the walk even shorter.

I'm not familiar with Covid rules either in area shuls or attractions, so definitely verify that before you go.

The science museum is great!

If kids are animal lovers there is the National Aviary- could be has some Covid regulations in place.

There may be in shadyside definitely walkable to squirrel Hill, its just a long walk.
If you are looking for airbnb find one in squirrel Hill. If you need help with specific streets for proximity to shul, post here and I will try to respond. Please also let us know what type of shul you are looking for so we can guide you accordingly 😉
