I feel like we've never had proper toys for their ages. What are good toys and games to get them?

What about books?

I'm looking for things that are great for play dates and for Shabbos, especially.

No toys get more mileage in my house than Magnatiles and Mitzvah Kinder (not necessarily a set, just mentchies).

My 3-yo girl also loves her cheap doll stroller.

All of the Hachai books are winners for us. Some favorites are "Is it Shabbos Yet?", the toddler experience series ("I Go to a Wedding"), and the Mitzvah Team.

When I had a 4yo boy and 3yo girl, they both loved the doll stroller.

We also had a bog box of duplo which included a train set which they both played with a lot and still do three years later.

In addition to all of that, the Keva/Kapla blocks are great for all ages.

A Kitchen set and toy foods/dishes are very popular in my house. We also have a shopping wagon and cash register. Good quality toy foods like the ones made by Learning Resources-last forever. My teens used them and my toddler enjoys them just the same. The 3/4 year old age is perfect for pretend play. These types of 'props' are great for playing 'house', 'store' etc.

Yes- those are great and if you can afford it it's SO worth the cost. We don't have a register or cart but we do have some fun kitchen items like a pretend blender and toaster and coffee maker. Ice cream sets with the ice cream scoops and cones are fun.

The other things that get used the most: (I have a 5 year old boy and 2 year old girl):

magnatiles

lego/duplo

playmobil

cars, cars, trucks, trucks, and more of both of those... they spend HOURS playing with those. Construction vehicles, small matchbox cars (if you get a garage those are fun), ambulances, fire trucks, etc. The Driven series sold at Target it good quality (though does do lights and sounds so not for shabbat). Both of my kids love the playmobil vehicles like the ambulances and fire trucks.

doll stroller

doll house and furniture/people to go in it

dress up- random things and also costumes with accessories (fire, police, doctor, nurse, etc)
they also like making forts. You can get fort building kits (we have one that is HORRIBLE quality but do research because some of them may be good)- but they also like making their own forts with sheets and blankets

toy construction tools (they like banging on and ripping apart cardboard boxes with the hammers and screw drivers)

shovels, buckets, and other gardening tools if you have a yard or somewhere to dig

little figurines- like small animals, paw patrol, etc
