Posting in this thread so I can go anon. Everyone who knows me heard about this or came to eat at my table and was frustrated each time they tried to drink….
So I got these beautiful lucite/acrylic monogrammed dishwasher safe cups for the shabbos table. Lovely.
In the store I told them not to wrap them because I bought it for myself. They did anyway. Ok, beautiful.
Problem is they used the sticky dots to stick it to the box and now I can’t get them off! I tried everything!! Scrapping with a knife, goo gone, dishwashing it, sitting in soap ect. each time we drink we have you pry it off of the tablecloth. I’m really annoyed.
I don’t live in the country I purchased them in. I had them sent to me overseas and it’s been months since I purchased it so I don’t think I can go back to the store when I finally do go back to that country...
DH said I can’t use them anymore.
Please help.

Call the store and ask how they advise removing them

Have you tried nail polish remover? Soak a cotton ball in it, and tape it onto the area that is sticky. leave it on for a while, and test the edge to see if the sticky part is coming loose. You may have to repeat this a few times.

Blow dryer. Works on labels, I don't know about sticky dots.

Test the lucite first
Many of these products will ruin lucite
Did you try soaking in oil

I have removed glue dots using a credit card to scrape it off without scratching it. when almost all of it is gone and theres just a bit of stickiness then switch to goo gone. You might have to let the goo gone sit on it for a few minutes before you wipe it away.
You might have better luck if you put the cups in the freezer so the glue gets hard and are less pliable.

Is the whole glue dot still there, or just the residue?
If it's the whole thing, you could try freezing and then removing.

Vinegar? Worked for me when I had sticker residue on my glasses. I put some on a cloth and rubbed at it, then rinsed it off.

Sanitizer or nail polish remover. Rub it until it comes off. You may need to rewet the tissue or cloth a few times but it will work.
