Someone I know says people she knows had a professional paint their bathroom tiles and it looks brand new.
Does anyone know who does this in NYC?

Yes, we painted the tiles in our rental apartment, since it was so old and gross. We didn't sand the tiles or use primer, and it started peeling pretty quickly.
Definitely do some research on Google, or speak to someone in Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore.
If I would do this again, I would:
- sand the tiles (with and electric sander)
- spray or roll on primer, like Kilz. Spray will be more expensive because there's less paint in the bottle.
- roll on paint. Ask the person in the paint store what is best for the humidity of a bathroom
It was totally worth it and such a fun project!
We did everything white, and it looked so fresh and clean in the end. Hope yours comes out beautiful and lasts long!

I edited to ask for recommendations for professionals who do this, because the people who did this, definitely didnt do it themselves. Im sure they researched it well.

If it doesnt last 10 years, and costs money, imho its not worth it.

It is unlikely it will last this long especially tiles are in a hugh use area.
What is the problem with the tiles. Is it purely aesthetic or are there actual issues
