I had a lot of strange food items to donate. Offered it on the neighborhood chat and to family and had no takers. Didn’t want to throw it out so I typed into google maps “food bank near me” it took me to the New Beginnings church in brick and they were super easy and nice and offered a tax receipt. Figured I’d let people know In case it could help anyone …

ETA: didn’t want to give my stuff to a Yeshiva cuz a lot of it was OU-D or fish without a heimish hechsher and a few weird dietary items

Ask your LOR if donating to a church is permissable according to Halacha.

She donated to the food bank, not the church.

Just asked. Better to donate than to throw out

For future reference, Mrs. Englard on forest Avenue takes food for local poor families.

I’m aware. It was 3 diff type of syrups with OU-D and a bunch of kasha products, some interesting oat products and some can fruit I ordered from amazon that was supposed to have a hechsher but showed up without it. Also sardines I bought for a cleaning lady I used to have, it’s not a reputable hechsher and more like that …
