What did you do for a phone for Israel trip?
Please post where you live and what kind of phone.
Don't know where to start.

Do you have anyone who lives in Israel? They can open a new Sim card under their account for really cheap for a month. Phone plans are so much cheaper here.

Another vote for cellular israel.
You can rent a phone or just get an Israeli sim card for your smartphone. Website has all details. You can use whatsapp for free calls in israel too but it's nice to have an Israeli number for when you can't whatsapp.
Expect to pay between 10 to 20 dollars per day for service.

Wow that's exepnsive, I'd just get an Israeli sim when I arrived (or if not possible have an Israeli get an Israeli sim card - I just got a phone plan for one of my kids for under 30 nis a month - that's like 13 USD).

My Verizon plan charges me $10 a day for each day used in Israel.
(I believe you have to call before to let them know you will be using there)
Otherwise in Boro park there are a few stores that give you a kosher phone for about $5 a day

We use this every time and are so happy with them:

It's like thirty dollars for a whole month, including internet, and minutes to america.

That's what I said - when I go to europe I use a UK SIM that's also significantly cheaper than going through companies here in Israel.

This has limited minutes to USA. I would hate having to concentrate how much I speak even though I probably wouldn’t go over

We just use WhatsApp for calls to America beyond the minutes. It hasn't been a problem but I guess it would if most of the people you need to call dont have smartphones.

We didn't bother to rent phones on recent trips, as WhatsApp has become ubiquitous in Israel.
