If you got mishloach manos with a mesh bag with loose nuts inside, would you eat them or be grossed out and toss them? Im asking fro kashrus and gross factor, not if you would toss for allergy or other reasons
These are not for close friends but for teachers, coworkers etc.
I live in Brooklyn for reference

I’d offer them to my kids who are less particular, but I wouldn’t eat them myself. If they were in a plastic bag I might.

You mean shelled nuts? if I trusted the person's kashrut, I might raise an eyebrow but I wouldn't throw them out. I might rinse them off first if I suspected their five-year-old helped fill the bags. Unshelled nuts I'd have no qualms whatsoever.

A mesh bag inside a sealed package, or a mesh bag that would have the contents touching the surface the bag is placed on?

Please don’t pack loose nuts. (Even in mesh)
For a kid with allergies it could contaminate everything else in the MM.
Anything with nuts should be in a sealed package imo.

If I would eat in the person's home, I would eat homebaked goods or repackaged open food. Otherwise, it goes in the trash.
Unless my husband gets to it first, he hates bal tachshis.

Oh, I’d eat it, but I’m probably in a minority here. I’m not so finicky.

All my mm are from close family and friends so I would totally eat. From a random person? Maybe not.

Do you mean an organza bag? I get those all the time and certainly do not toss them.
Don't know where all these tossers are from but definitely not the norm where I'm from.

For those of you who wouldn't eat, do you also toss the hostess packages you get when you go away for a simcha? There are always small boxes/bags of nuts/candy.

For me the problem is the bag. They are pretty, but they allow in dust, dirt, germs and moisture. I'm too particular to be okay with that. I wouldn't throw them out, though. My kids are less picky than me, and they'll happily eat them (assuming they like that kind of nuts).

Seems I'm in the minority here for some reason, but I would eat it.

I would probably eat it. There's no safety issue for me since I'm b'h not allergic or immunocompromised.
