BH my family won a prize in a chinese auction that entitles me to a family trip and I need help deciding where to go. The value of the prize is decent (about $2500) I'm aware that it may only cover 2/3 (flight, hotel, car) I will obviously pay for what it doesn't
*We have 2 kids (ages 7 and 1) and thinking of going when camp ends in August.
*We do NOT want anywhere hotter than NY (so no Florida, Vegas, AZ, etc)
*Direct flight from NYC is a must. Ok with driving too.
*We don't love the beach (we can do it for a day, but not for a week)
*we do no need minyan. We do not need kosher restaurants (though supermarket with some availability would be a bonus)
Open to your ideas! I’d love a really out of the box idea

Colorado is beautiful in the summer, and you can stock up on food in Denver when you fly in. I'd also look into the Pacific Northwest - either Vancouver/Victoria/Whistler or Oregon/Washington, which check off all your boxes and are underrated. If you want to aim even higher, Alaska and Iceland are both out of this world!

Yes I agree I’ve been but I can’t take my 1 year old hiking (I do wear him But he’s almost 30lb so can’t go up a mountain with him) so I’d rather wait till he’s older

San Diego is great with kids. The weather is pleasant. You can do some beach/park days and some attractions. There is kosher food and some takeout. There is minyanim.

Do you like lakes? I feel like a lake house could be nice with kids those ages in the summer. What types of things do you envision doing with your kids? Sounds like beach and hiking are not what you want.

It’s a city. Just like any other city it has very nice areas and areas to stay away from.
