Ages 12-18 months? What hours do you think would be appreciated? What amount should I charge per hour?
Thinking of opening a group.

Do you mean long hours or you would only offer after hours?
Yes there's a need. 8 to 5pm
it would have to be cheaper than daycare rate to be interesting. Or small group. Or bag less drop off.

So you think there is no need for a 2:15-5:15 group?

I would definitely be interested for my newborn. I work until 4:45ish (I work in the healthcare system so parents want us to work after school hours).

That’s the thing. So many ppl asked me if I would consider doing newborns but I prefer the 12-18 month age.
Anyone know if there is a need for that specifically? And what is the going rate for after hours

There is a strong need for afternoon hours but I would recommend starting at 12/1 for people that work in schools second half of the day. Elementary / high schools are having a really hard time hiring teachers partially because they don’t have childcare that runs until 4 or 5 o’clock…

I'll leave others to comment on exact times. If you don't get a response here you can put a classified in the bp saying you're creating an afternoon babysitting group together and call for details. You can use the feedback to create a schedule.

For reference though, I know someone who switched from morning babysitting bais feiga schedule to afternoons high school. One of the mothers put together the group of afternoon hs teachers. I don't know what the per hour is but she told them she needed to earn the same edit: per month as if she did the morning despite the fewer hours (no Fridays, fewer hours per day, and more vacation for hs).

Also, she took all ages as many afternoon teachers don't send their preschoolers out jn the morning. So she might take a family's 2 year old and newborn

She had already turned her mornings into a monthly, (she added up total babysitting hours per year and then divided by 10) so she was very clear on her monthly.

This friends kids were all older elementary through married and she tried it put the first year to accommodate her grandchild. However, in the end she really liked having her mornings for errands and stayed w afternoons.

I do clubs from 2-4 when I started I used to pick up kids from there playgroup, now most of the kids come from playgroups on the block or the next, some do get dropped off from carpools.

If you are doing 2-6 how are the kids getting to you?
Are you offering transpiration or are the parents going to have to figure it out?

That is some thing to thing about.
