Worcestershire sauce is always made with fish (a small amount).

The "classic"/"original" brand says OU FISH - https://www.target.com/p/lea-3.....86254

But the target brand is just regular OU -- https://www.target.com/p/worce.....78354 (if you check the ingredients, you will still see there are anchovies)

why is the branded one OU FISH and the target one regular OU? different amounts of fish? ty for solving this mystery

Call the ou. You are right that it should say fish. Thank you for noticing!

OU says they don't require OU FISH if it's less than 1/60th fish

https://oukosher.org/faqs/prod.....ents/

so perhaps the target brand has less fish than the original?

btw, if you go to OU's website and search for Worcestershire, the ONLY one that comes up as OU FISH is the "original" one. perhaps they just use a different formula than everyone else?

So then that makes sense as the answer based on where anchovies are on the ingredient list.

I learned something from somewhere I'm don't remember where though. Either on here or an advertisement. The gefen brand worcestershire sauce doesn't have any fish in it. I confirmed it by calling the bal machshir himself.

Not all Worcestershire sauces have fish in them. We buy a south african brand here in Israel. No fish at all.

But does fish still need to be listed in the ingredients? I assume since it's such an allergen it has to be, so if I don't see fish in ingredients I assume there isn't any.

Probably.
I learned this percentage OU thing when I got KBD Kids in the Kitchen cookbook for my 10th birthday Smile
