What part of the world?
In NYC (and the surrounding areas), parents usually apply right after the Fall Yom Tovim for the next school year.
That being said...I used to work in a school office and we sometimes had people calling to set up interviews as late as the summer.
You could be ok, depending on where you are looking and how particular you are on the type of program/class your child gets into.
Expect to be asked - in one form or another - why you are applying so late. Some parents simply didn't get in elsewhere, others moved recently due to employment or family considerations, and therefore need to start a fresh search.

Depends which school. Some accept anyone who fits their criteria even later in the game. It’s usually not a matter of place (although they use this excuse when it’s a no). It’s usually a matter of being the right type that the school is looking for.
