Rather than containers? Pans are more compact than containers.

I remember my mom freezing chicken soup in aluminum tins. (For the summer holidays) I think she just left it out to defrost and then put it straight on the hot plate (this way she didn't have to wash up any pots)

I’ve poured cooled soup into freezer ziplock bags and lay flat in 9x13. Once frozen solid you can take the bag out of the pan and stack them:)

Thanks. Buy this wouldn't work for me because of how much I need per meal. I was thinking of deep 9x13 pans. Even the deep pans take up less room in the freezer than containers. I'm making tomorrow a big batch. I guess I'll give it a try.

Yes, I freeze soup in pans. I stack the pans after the soup is frozen solid.

I always freeze soup in aluminum pans. I defrost and pour into a pot to rewarm cause I don't like cooking in aluminum.

I freeze in a bekela on purpose. This way it gets rewarmed in the oven. No pots!

Once the soup is done cooking And is cooled off I pour them into bekelach and cover really well. When I want to use it I defrost it( semi defrost is fine too) and put in the oven on 300. It’s so convenient yom tov time.

It doesn't spill before it is frozen and you are moving it counter to freezer shelf etc?
I like freezing stuff including liquids in zip lock bags. Freeze inside the 9x13's.
(Don't freeze acidic things in foil like tomato soup or apple compote. That would make the aluminum corode.)

I don’t fill it until the top. I also close it really tight.
I never freeze tomato soup. Compote goes in plastic containers.

I freeze in foil pan, then defrost, and place straight onto hotplate. No containers, pots to wash, no pouring over.
As above poster said first freeze before stack so cover shouldn't fall in.
If you travel for Yom tov then it's better in plastic containers so shouldn't spill.

Maybe use 2 pans together in case one has or gets a hole in it.

If you are afraid that pan will spill while transferring to.freezer, use support bottom, or two pans till freeze or transfer while on a serving tray.

When you are ready to ladel out the soup into individual bowls, do you do so while it is on the oven shelf? I can't understand how you move a steaming hot liquid filled aluminum pan from the oven to a kitchen counter without spilling it.
Do you use really strong pans or double pan it?
