Can I freeze a tub of cream cheese?
What about American Cheese? Does it have to be individually wrapped ones or can it be big brick of 108 slices?

I've done both.
Brick cheese no difference. Whip cream cheese, didn't spread as easily after iirc.

I've frozen American cheese. I usually divide it to portions before freezing.

Whipped cream cheese changes texture when frozen. It won't spread smoothly at all, though it tastes fine. I don't freeze it anymore because we get it for sandwiches and it's annoying when defrosted.
American cheese freezes okay, although I find the pieces don't separate as easily. Not a major difference, but I notice it. I still freeze it sometimes, but if I intend to use it within the next month or so I'll just keep in the fridge.
There used to be a brand of American cheese that had parchment or something between each slice. That can't be frozen, all of the pieces dry up and become inedible.

And double wrap to avoid freezer burn - but, yes, it's been fine at my end, too.

I buy 108 slices american cheese and divide by 3. I freeze 2 bags. They freeze beautifully and never had an issue with it.

If you add a little water to the defrosted whipped cream cheese it makes it easier to spread.
