But not to shul or when out on the street.
Most people dress their babies in outfits when going out.

No this isn't true.
We're talking about dressy stretchies (footies), not pyjama stretchies. Could be something like this:

4 months old look so much neater in one piece, and that's also what's the norm these days.
An overall/romper style is also cute, with a ribbed tshirt/undershirt underneath: https://kidichicusa.com/produc.....78689

I agree it's very normal to have a 4 month old in a stretchie but you definitely won't look out of place with a sweater and leggings. Goes either way, both ways are very common and very cute.

Babies deserve to be comfortable though. If I were a baby, I'd want to wear a stretchie for as long as I could get away with it.

A sweater and leggings are super comfy, no need to worry Smile obviously an age appropriate sweater, not some stiff toddler style one.

Definitely won't look out of place, but OP was asking what's more the norm. And I think even if doing two pieces, for that age it's more up to date to then do a set or overall, rather than matching a sweater with leggings.

From what I see, most babies are wearing outfits to shul or when out. It's basically only newborns that wear stretchies to shul.

I wouldn’t do leggings for Shabbos IMO it’s not dressy enough. You can do something like this.

So many opinions lol!!

I am glad to do a stretchie, but in the past I have heard people say that all stretchies are pajamas.
Thanks for the links. There were some nice stuff.
I can't believe that people spend $70 on a baby stretchie that gets outgrown pretty quickly!!

The sweater I would do is a very comfortable cozy sweater, so don't worry about that. I wouldn't compromise my baby's comfort.

Any additional links would be great!!

My son is 5 but I have been buying girls leggings (and pants since he was one). The boys ones they make just don't fit nicely. Outfitter his entire pants wardrobe from target toddler girls last year. Noone could tell the difference and they fit nice and slim
