That's the way the Streudel Crumbles?

Okay, not quite crumbles, but...

I tried my first ever streudel...B'h the crust was thin enough, the filling was yum, but I don't think I rolled it tight enough when I was turning th dough over the filling (for fear of it falling apart) so it was a bit loose and I think the pastry was a bit too flaky, because it kind of fell apart.

Any advice from you experienced streudel makers? I used the recipe in the purple spice and the spirt book (I substituted oil for margarine...maybe I should not have...it would have been more flavorful...Next time I want to use butter and make a milchig one I can top with ice cream..yumm)
