Desperately need someone (a rav, therapist?) to help us deal with child who has HFA and going otd. Totally at a loss regarding boundaries/rules - what to take a stand on. Looking for someone to help us navigate this very challenging situation.

Hi, I am sorry that you are going through this. It is very painful. I am a family mediator and deal with conflicts between parents and children. Feel free to PM.

In lakewood, you can call Resolve or Nesivos. 2 organizations to help you navigate OTD kids. they can direct you. Help find a mentor or new school or job for your child.

Op I’m just wondering if an autistic child can be considered otd. My son is over bar mitzva but due to his issues he can’t do some mitzvos such as davening , sitting at the Seuda or Seder. I’m wondering if it is simply part of the disorder and should be handled as part of asd not otd.

I think you need a specialist on autism rather than otd

Try refuah helpline. They’re great with referrals on everything. If you have Medicaid you can try a hcbs or opwdd agency as well.
