I previously used NYU child study center (and I believe there are other child study centers in the NY area) for a DC with ASD and ADHD. It was a very affordable alternative to expensive neuropsych testing and I felt they did a good job.
I now have concerns about another DC but I'm not sure if it would be good enough because I think this DC is more complex. They are a real mystery to me and I am very well versed in special needs (I work in a related field and try to stay on top of things.) I think it might be a combination of ADHD, maybe a learning disability, some kind of expressive language thing, and maybe some kind of emotional disturbance. But all in a kid who overall presents as well functioning, bright, achieving decently in school, sociable. However over time my concerns are getting stronger, not better. The issues are subtle but they are serious. Would a child study center be able to tease out what's going on and give helpful recommendations, or should I just save time and go straight to a private neuropsych (which I really can't afford but then again traveling into the city for multiple appointments isn't without a cost either.)
If you know anyone private or separate from a child study center, I'm very much interested in recommendations. Location is NYC - 5 boros or long island.

Thanks but they don't accept any insurance.
The hospital/research/school based child centers like NYU tend to accept insurance or run research studies that cover the costs.

Thanks for the info, I did not see it on their website at all! I'll ask them what's up.
