My baby is a toddler now and ever since she's born she's not sleeping. Putting her to sleep for nap or for the night takes forever and she just won't fall asleep. I've tried different approaches (except cio) and nothing worked. I have a feeling there must be something more to it. When I address this issue with the pediatrician he says to do cio. That can't be the only solution. It just occurred to me that maybe this is an early symptom of adhd. My other child and husband are diagnosed with ADD.

Mom of 5.y.o. with add. She slept fine at night, but putting her to sleep was a nightmare. Day naps were also very very short.

All of my kids have adhd and all of were (and still are) poor sleepers. It's a thing, a lot of adhd kids have trouble sleeping.

My teen DD was only recently diagnosed with ADHD.
She was hands down my hardest to put to sleep, and woke up the most....
Never thought it was connected.

I need ideas with how I can make it easier- supplements etc.
Even nursing to sleep doesn't make her fall asleep. I've tried giving melo chew but it didn't help- I probably didn't give enough.

One did and one didn't. Their ADHD also presents very differently as preteens.
The issue that many super alert babies have is in shutting down. I would suggest making it a priority to give some 'wind down time' in a quieter area before the nap and then make sure the room where she sleeps is very dark and put on a sound machine. Keeping to a schedule is also helpful for this kind of baby. Many times the hyper alert aware busy babies who sleep less actually need more sleep, they just don't show signs of being tired as much. You can even try her naps or bedtime a drop earlier.
There are also tons of babies who have a hard time sleeping bc of temperament or some other reason and do not ever have ADHD.

I have several kids with ADHD and several without.
All my babies were marvelous sleepers and nappers.
Definitely no correlation in this house.

The same brain differences that cause adhd symptoms can also cause sleep issues.
We find magnesium incredibly calming for the nervous system, esp topically like a footsoak or lotion in the evening.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post the links. Can these supplements be given to a toddler?
