I don't like deli containers. Concerned about reusing them for health reasons, and it feels so wasteful to throw them away after one use.

Deli containers. Sorry, that's the only thing I use. Maybe you could store soup un jars and freeze? Not sure how they would hold up.

You can use glass ball jars if you want to reuse.
Personally I use the deli containers. Pop them out when frozen and reheat in a pot. I don't feel bad throwing it out after 1 use. It served its purpose.
When I only had a small freezer I used to freeze them in ziploc freezer bags. Very space saving.

I put a freezer bag in a deli container and when frozen, take out of container and leave in bag.

I use the relatively inexpensive Tupperware type of containers. You don't have to heat in them if you don't feel safe doing so but can thaw and heat in a container that is intended for heating microwave.
Not sure what the issue is - deli containers aren't recommended for heating anyway.
