It looks like driving might be the most efficient, but too far this lady to drive by herself.
So fly or train?
Flying out of Newark is a real pain. Would really rather train if it makes sense, but know nothing about trains!
If train which station and acela or regular.
Cost is only an issue of there is a huge difference in price.

Are there flights from Atlantic City, Philly or Trenton? Those airports are easier than Newark.

I did it once many years ago. Took the bus from Lakewood to NYC, and from there you can take a train or bus from Penn Station. It was time-consuming, but so too is getting to Newark and flying from there to Logan, then taking a subway into Boston. Driving would be my first choice if at all possible.

You can take the train from Trenton or Iselin, both an hour or under from Lakewood. It takes you right into downtown Boston IIRC.
