Something small, can even be an American food? Any ideas what would someone Israeli get excited about?

Israeli kids like American candy and cereal. It's available there but more expensive. Books are nice, too and much better priced here. I love magazines, maybe she would like Vogue or home magazines. Popcorn is a big craze in Israel and Popsanity offers a nice variety.

Everyone differnt - But I always appreciate when someone coming asks me if there is anything I need. Sometimes its vitamins, or a specific makeup item that is harder to find here...
As a gift, if she's making YT, maybe nice paper goods, those are hard to find or really expensive.
Good american candy - gushers, jolly ranchers ;-)

Makeup, if you know what she wears.
Some kosher for pesach foods are hard to get here without kitniyos, so if that's an issue, ask her what she likes.

Ask her. Tell her that you are going to bring her something anyway, so either she can tell you what she wants or you can be creative and she might hate it, and then you spent money and shlepped it for nothing.
Usually, people will say “oh it’s really not necessary, nothing really really”, but when pressed, they will be more than happy to tell you what they would actually like.
Nothing wrong with asking her and bringing her what she wants.
When I go to my SIL, she usually wants Reeses peanut butter cups, books (and will often give me a bunch of titles/authors/genres) or sneakers and when my SIL comes here from Israel, she asked and I tell her what I want.
