What do you cover the vents with before spraying the oven?

Why do you self clean twice? Isn’t self clean once enough to kasher for pesach ?

I just loosely and carefully press in some paper towels, making sure they are easy to remove in one piece.

I already told her to never again spray there but I feel like hiding it from her and not let her use it. She washes my oven weekly and never rinses it well enough, it always smells from easy off when I turn it on. I'm afraid I'm getting the chemicals into my food. |
CLEANING WITHOUT ST MORITZ OR EASY OFF
This is why I stopped using easy off, no matter how much I rinsed, that chemical smell lingered.
I spray oven with half vinegar/half water very well.
I put two 9 × 13 pans half filled with water on
Shelf.
I turn oven on 450 for 30 minutes. I open oven a few
Times and throw some water on bottom of oven.
The steam loosens the dirt.
Turn off oven, open door for 10 minutes to cool.
Wearing gloves, clean oven using #2 coarse steel wool dipped in baking soda. Also a pan of water.
Wipe down with paper towels.
No worries of dangerous chemicals in your food.

Do you make a paste of the water and Baking soda?

Instead of using a shmatte to wipe off the cleaning agent I spray down the whole oven off with plenty of water with a spray bottle. Yes, a lot off spraying but all soap comes off without wiping. I collect the dirty water in a dustpan with a small squeegee.

I dip the steel wool in water, then dip it in baking soda.
No need to make a paste.

Thanks #BestBubby, I just cleaned my oven with your method.
I still have splatters on the sides and top of my oven, no matter how much I scrub with steel wool they don't seem to come off. They're hard to see when the oven light is off but you can feel it, sides don't feel smooth in some areas
Any idea what it could be from?

If I had to use easy off, I would get the paste that
You just brush on certain spots instead of spraying
All over.

Wish they still made that. They don't.

My husband does appliance repair and him and his frum colleagues were discussing self clean since it may ruin the oven. He met with his rosh yeshiva and went over certain halachos and dh said that 500 for 2 hours is better than self clean.
He gets tons of calls erev pesach to fix ovens that are done on self clean... just wanted to put this out there

Why does self-clean break ovens? Isn't the oven designed to do self clean on an occasional basis?

I have someone here kashering my sinks with instant hot water pots and immersion heaters, the fuse blew twice (although he has mega extension cords & tries to plug in all different rooms not to use the same fuse).
Bkitzur the oven went off during self clean & I see some dirt on the bottom so pretty sure wasn't long enough, whereas the older oven, I don't know if it was on sooner (DH turned them on when I was out) but only white ash so I feel confident that one is done.
I think I will try the 500 for two hours & see what happens.
