A Hyundai Tucson 2019 rental from Turo and the key mysteriously vanished. This has never happened to me before and I can’t figure out where it disappeared. Luckily my host had a replacement key so I could bring the car back.
Insurance doesn’t cover lost keys but my host texted me that the key is insured through her private insurance, but also texted me she’s not sure it’ll be covered.
Later received a msg from her that she will have to pay a $250 fee to file a claim for the key and doesn’t want to pay out of pocket, and she is also not sure that they will indeed cover the key, so she is asking me to pay for the key which she claims is $700 for the physical parts, programming and labor.
Does this make sense?
Is there any way I can get the key for a better price?
I don’t have extra $700 now before Pesach! What a headache.
