Has anyone been and is it nice?
Last chol hamoed I took the kids to allaire state park on a whim and the kids loved it. Ages 8 and 12. I had no idea what to expect when we we left to there but we ended up catching a tour of the Ironworks village, shopped the general store, walked a little trail and walked around the open air train museum. It also surprisingly wasn't mobbed.
Will Holmdel park be similar? What can I expect?

I've been there a few times. Holmdel has an old fashioned working farm, so if you're into that type of thing (milking cows, etc), it can be nice. I think that Allaire is a little more mature and there is much more to do. It has more trees than Holmdel.
Holmdel has better playgrounds and sports fields. It is usually mobbed on chol hamoed because it is a nice meeting place between the Lakewood area and the NYC/North Jersey area, right off the GSP.

The farm and the long house looked interesting, also the arboretum but not sure how much is in bloom this time of year. Are there any nice trails to walk?
Will take suggestions for other interesting parks in the area.
