Well they're just showing their ignorance aren't they! Have they never learned sefer bamidbar?

I too would love to give a name to express thanks. Problem is I feel like in the chasidishe community it isn't as acceptable to give a random name. I think I may get lots of questioning looks if I don't name after a grandmother. (yes, I'm a weakling...)

Elisheva - my G-d promised. Has the same gematria as yemei simcha. Can be called Shevy in a Chassidish community.
Someone suggested Nechama - that’s what I named my daughter born after many years of infertility.
Liba - beloved.
I do think Bracha Yehudis or Brucha Yides is lovely.
I like the idea of something simple and sweet to describe your baby like Zissel (sweet) or Roiza/Raizel/Blimy etc. I love Shoshana but I assume that wouldn’t go over so well in a Chassidish community.

Maybe yeah maybe no. People don't remember all the names from the tanach that they learned during chumash class in 7th grade.

I know so many girls named Noa and had no clue that was was one of bnos tzelafchad! I always wondered why it was a girls name, I thought it was soemone turning Noach into a girls name. Probably learned it in elementary but it definitely wasn’t memorable.

Hudya I think is the original name

Chassidish and many heimish and very yeshivish only use names from Tanach, yiddish, or with a mesorah from a rebba or gadol b'yisroel.
Many of the names mentioned here like hodaya, eliana, ashira are unacceptable
Yehudis Bracha or Yidis Brucha- might be easier than Bracha Yehudis.
Tova Gittel (and variations of....Gitte)
Chaya Shaine
Nechama (Chumi)
Zissel (Zisi)
Chana (Chani)
