There was an ad in family first about a 3 week Israel trip for working chasidish girls
The thing was affiliated with some seminary and costs 4500$ not including airfare
That's approximately 750₪ A DAY! more than we paid for our 3 day overnight trip in high school.
Can someone please explain why this would cost so much?
I have an Israeli family member that will love to go on such a trip but at this price is not worth it.

I know of a fantastic reliable program for boys for 3 weeks which is charging less than half of that so I do think it's pretty overpriced.

When DD was looking into a tour in Israel we noticed how the Chassidish tours were WAY more then the others.
After she went (stayed in the same building as such a tour), she said the main difference is the food. Then put out huge spreads every trip they go on ect.
Also, they packed in every fun thing you can imagine, to the next level

Is it high season=schools in Israel are off?
High season means all accomodations buses and guides are more expensive.
Will they go to lots of sites with entrance fees? Is all food and snacks included?

No. Not at all.
Just pointing out that that's probably why the ad you saw was so expensive. DD's tour didn't cost anything near that.

Is the three weeks to be spent learning or touring, or a combination?

Learning probably includes paying top speakers to come and give a few shiurim, as well as some of the seminary staff.

Touring includes bus hire, security, tour guides, and entrance fees.

Either way, it will have to include food and accommodation, possibly on a somewat luxurious level.

According to my calculations, its closer to 800₪ per day. It sounds exorbitant, but I can see how the costs would add up, and they want to make a profit...

Maybe they are thinking that single girls who are earning a regular income with relatively few expenses can spend on something like this. But the only ones who can take three weeks off work without a problem are probably teaching, which doesn't earn a great salary.

I went on such a tour 8 years ago. It was $2300.
Tours on ac buses every day. Kosel tunnels, rosh hanikrah, hikes etc.
3 meals a day. Some speakers. Rental of dorm. Married women plus single girls for counslers... It all adds up.

Also we swim in 3 weeks. Just not in 9 days.

Sleepaway camp for four weeks upstate costs $3,000, so that price makes sense

I think your math seems to be wrong - maybe I am missing something.

If it is $4500 for three weeks, that is $1500 per week which is about $220 per day. That seems to be fairly reasonable for an all expense paid tour - especially in what people are saying high season.

Hotel rooms aren't cheap and you aren't packing them into a dorm or hostel. Three meals a day - transportation - tour guides - admission - entertainment - it adds up quickly

But maybe I am miscalculating.

$4500 for a 3 week Israel trip, is really not alot. It's peak season and includes hotel, food, travel, entertainment.
