Every night I go from room to room and clean up the odds and ends from the floor. I get so frustrated and go around in circles. Tonight I'm not doing it. It's just gonna be dumped out again tomorrow. Why am I bothering? Hiding

Oh, no worries. It will wait for you till tomorrow. Or the next day. No secret elves will clean it all while you sleep. Speaking from personal experience.

"and the mess grew bigger, every single day..."

I'm with you op. The only thing I found that helped was reducing stuff. So I have less clothes, less for them to empty. Less toys, especially those with little pieces and I keep the toy cupboard locked with only 1 toy out at a time. But I have highly talented and creative kids who somehow manage to make mess with everything.
It does go better when I tidy each day, because otherwise it gets overwhelming. But it is sooo hard and draining tidying again and again.

I clean up right away so it’s less overwhelming. Especially at night when you’re drained
