Oh no. In the mountains?

In all honesty though I’d probably take them home with me.

Grossed out? No. Why?

I’d rather a cat in the store, presumably there to keep the mice away, than the alternative.

It brushed against my legs when shopping. It could have rabies.

Reminds me of the time I took my bunny to the store and people thought it was so cute. Wouldn't think it grosses people out...

Are we neighbors Very Happy Very Happy
..most of the stores don't have them roaming the isles during the day, but you will see them coming up from the basement. The stores that close for evening bring them up when closing and the 24hr supermarkets bring up for night shift.
I think in summer they show face more...

Many supermarkets have cats to keep mice away. Probably all supermarkets in Brooklyn have a cat, they put it in for the night.

That’s not how you get rabies. And most indoor cats don’t have rabies.

Mice and rats are a health risk.

Where is common sense in this world?

I love them. I resist the urge to try to pet them when I see them. It's not a serious disease risk.

Also. If you were concerned about any disease on a cat, it wouldn’t be rabies, it would be ringworm. Which it probably doesn’t have either.

I'm a big fan of "Bodega Cats" on social media, and I would much prefer to shop in almost any kind of store with a cat.

I would totally pet the cats! And use hand sanitizer/wash my hands when leaving the store—but I do that anyway, regardless of felines in the store. The number of people who touch the carts, the food containers, the raw veggies etc…lots of germs on all of those as well!

Btw, it is extremely rare for cats to carry rabies.
