I’d rather they only bring in the cats after hours. It would definitely gross me out.

I'm a big fan of "Bodega Cats" on social media, and I would much prefer to shop in almost any kind of store with a cat.

I am now obsessed and liking every single photo.

By the way, a mouse chewing through the food you buy would more likely carry parasites than you ever getting rabies from a supermarket cat.

Not possible. Mice and rats are overrunning NYC.

Hashem gave us a reliable, nontoxic way to keep rodents away from our food. Appreciate it!

Also. If you were concerned about any disease on a cat, it wouldn’t be rabies, it would be ringworm. Which it probably doesn’t have either.
Really? What about fleas? Yich.

Then I guess I’m lucky not to live in nyc
Didn’t realize my dislike of cats in supermarkets could be any issue for anyone

I think I know which store you're talking about. I never step foot in there just for that reason. Yuck!

Actually, technically you can. Fleas can jump onto fabric (clothes). I hope the stores give the cats Revolution or another topical (or oral) flea treatment, but no guarantees.

I have a cat phobia and would totally freak out. I don’t know which store your referring to, but so far I haven’t seen any cats in the stores while I’ve been there

Fleas will not live on humans though. If a cat is not treated they may stay in the bedding of the cat's household, but you won't get a flea infestation from brushing past a cat in the supermarket.

..more than one store in Brooklyn has cats! Both large and small groceries.
For all those who are spooked already some of the largest yeshiva kitchens have famous cats (outside of Brooklyn)
